ROCHESTER - No. 1 seed Lakeville South's Ashton Dahms scored with 35 seconds to play in the second period to give the Cougars a two-goal cushion en route to a 4-1 win over No. 3 seed Lakeville North in the Section 1AA championship game on Thursday at the Rochester Recreation Center.
Dahms, a senior forward, scored Just 34 seconds after Lakeville North had cut its deficit to one, at 2-1, on a goal by Tyler Arneson.
The game was a rematch of the 2022 Section 1AA title game, which Lakeville South won 4-1.
No. 11-2A Lakeville South (21-6-1) led 1-0 after Tate Pritchard's goal in the first. The Cougars bumped their lead to 2-0 on Will Kortan's goal midway in the second.
Arneson scored on a power play for Lakeville North (13-15-0) with 1:09 left in the second.
The Cougars' Thomas Boisjolie added an empty net goal with 1:57 to play.
Jack Hochsprung made 31 saves for Lakeville South.
The win was the Cougars' 10th in 11 games.
